Nami Kagami is a native of Japan. She received her initial training at Masako Kaji Dance School. She has worked with Rod Rodgers Dance Company for 16 years, now a principal dancer and featured soloist. Nami is a graduate of Hofstra University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance with honors. She continued her studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and Peridance Center.

 

Through the Rod Rodgers Dance Company, Ms. Kagami has performed works by Rod Rodgers, Kim Grier, Kayoko Sakoh and Sean Curran. Ms. Kagami also had opportunities to assist Mr. Rodgers' in workshops and is currently Ms. Grier's assistant in master classes, workshops and Arts-in-Educations programs via Arts Connection throughout the tri-state area. She has taught classes at Harlem School of the Arts and in public schools in the NYC area through Bronx Arts Ensemble. Ms. Kagami has been teaching for the RRDC Youth Program since it started in 2002.
